Erasmus and student nightlife in Madrid: the complete guide
Studying abroad in Madrid? You’ve picked one of the best cities in Europe for a night out. We’re a local team that has been organising nights out in Madrid for 7 years, and we speak English. Here’s how the city’s nightlife works, where students go each night and how to go out on a budget.

Madrid nightlife in 60 seconds
- Late nights: dinner at 21:30–22:30, drinks from 23:00, clubs fill up from 1:00 and close around 6:00.
- Thursday is student night: it’s the big night for university and study-abroad students, especially around Moncloa and Chamberí.
- Free guest lists (“lista”): many clubs let you in free or cheaper if you’re on the list and arrive before a cut-off time. It’s the cheapest way to go out.
- Bring your original ID: passport or national ID card. Photos and copies are not accepted.
Going out on a student budget
- Guest lists: clubs such as Blue Club, Kube, Bonded Club or Manamá have free lists until a set time (some are for girls only). Message us and we’ll add you.
- Open bar: on Thursdays, Cats has an open bar from €10 between 00:00 and 02:00.
- Cheap entry: tickets from €7–8 at clubs like Marvel, Epoka or Manamá.
- Buy online: tickets are cheaper online than at the door, where prices go up as the night fills.
Where to go each night of the week
- Monday and Tuesday: Tiffany’s, FITZ and Manamá, open every night.
- Wednesday: add Nazca Club, Cats and Vandido.
- Thursday (student night): the Moncloa and Chamberí area — Mon, Copérnico, Cats, Chango — and Calle Orense, with Nazca Club, Blue Club, Posh Club and Etnia Club.
- Friday and Saturday: almost everything is open — more than 25 options every night.
- Sunday: Tiffany’s, FITZ, Manamá, Nazca Club and Vandido.

The best areas for students
- Moncloa, Argüelles and Chamberí: the university area and the heart of student nightlife. See Mon, Copérnico or Epoka.
- Calle Orense (Azca): several clubs a few metres apart — easy to change venue during the night.
- City centre (Sol, Gran Vía): big venues like Joy Eslava and Manamá, perfect for your first nights in Madrid.

Rules at the door
- Age: 18+ at most clubs; some ask for 20+ or more on certain nights. Check each club’s page.
- ID: original passport or national ID card (EU ID cards are fine). No photos, no copies.
- Dress code: “casual” means neat, informal clothes; “smart” means no sportswear, flip-flops or caps. The final decision at the door is always the club’s.
- Arrive as a group with the booking under one name: you’ll get in much faster.
Getting home safely
- The Metro closes around 1:30 am (check the official timetable). After that: night buses (“búhos”), taxis or ride-hailing apps.
- Keep your phone and wallet in a front pocket, especially around Sol and on busy nights.
- Never leave your drink unattended, and look out for your friends.
- Save our WhatsApp: if something goes wrong with your booking, message us.
