New Year’s Eve in Madrid: clubs, tickets and how to book

New Year’s Eve is the biggest night of the year in Madrid’s clubs: almost every venue throws a special party and tickets sell out weeks in advance. Here’s how to plan the night so you don’t end up without a plan — from the 12 grapes to the dance floor.

How New Year’s Eve works at a Madrid club

In Spain, New Year starts with the 12 grapes: one grape for each chime of the clock at midnight, eaten at home, at a restaurant or in Puerta del Sol. Most club parties start after the chimes: doors open around 00:30–1:00 and the party usually goes on until 6 am or later.

Unlike a normal weekend, there are almost no free guest lists on New Year’s Eve: you’ll need an advance ticket or a VIP table. In 2026, 31 December falls on a Thursday, so many clubs will keep the party going all weekend.

What a New Year’s Eve ticket includes

It depends on the club and the party, but you’ll usually find:

  • Ticket with drinks: includes one or more drinks.
  • Open-bar ticket: unlimited drinks for a set number of hours or all night, depending on the party.
  • Party pack (“cotillón”): hats, noisemakers and masks — the classic Spanish New Year touch.
  • VIP table: your own table with bottles included, the most comfortable option for groups.

Check carefully what each ticket includes before you buy. Not sure? Message us and we’ll compare the options for you.

When to buy tickets

The sooner, the better. New Year’s Eve tickets usually go on sale in November and are sold in price tiers: the price goes up as the date approaches and early batches sell out. VIP tables are the first thing to go. If you already know where you want to go, book as soon as tickets are released.

At the door, if there are tickets left, they’re usually much more expensive and entry depends on capacity.

Which club to choose for New Year’s Eve

  • Big party in the centre: Joy Eslava, right next to Puerta del Sol, so you can walk there straight after the chimes.
  • A more upmarket night: the clubs in Salamanca, such as Saint Club or Vandido. Smart dress code.
  • Young, student crowd: the Moncloa and Chamberí area, with clubs like Mon or Copérnico.
  • Several clubs on one street: Calle Orense, with Nazca Club, Blue Club, Posh Club and Etnia Club.

Tips for the night of the 31st

  • Dress code: many clubs are stricter than usual on New Year’s Eve. Dress smart even if the club is casual the rest of the year.
  • ID: bring your original passport, national ID card or driving licence. You must be 18 or over.
  • Arrive early: there are queues at every club after the chimes.
  • Plan your way home: taxis are very hard to find that night. The Metro usually extends its hours on New Year’s Eve — check the official timetable and, if you can, pre-book a ride-hailing car.
  • Coming from Puerta del Sol? Pick a club in the centre so you can walk there.
